Random Generator Prompt 2!
Second Prompt Generator just for your reference. I'll update the previous post with the other generator. That one gave a sentence, but this one is apparently a whole different ballgame.
That's a lot of words. Not the word count, but the detail in the prompt. I feel like I hit the mother load, but also that I accidentally kicked an iron plate I mistook for soft cotton.* Oh boi.

Start!
The
umbrella was a state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind, several-hyphens-in-description,
item. It was hauntingly gorgeous, the delicate ribs carved lovingly from a
single tusk of ivory. The grains were exactly aligned such that they fitted
seamlessly into one another, creating a vision of harmony and beauty. The
canopy was made from the highest-grade mulberry silk, hand-dyed and painted with a
cheerful landscape complete with a radiating sun in the center. It was just as
effective as a parasol as it was the traditional umbrella, and ensured full
coverage and ultraviolet protection. In fact, there were tiny caps at the end
of each rib which could be screwed open to pour in a specially concocted potion
that would naturally turn to mist as it was exposed to the sun’s heat. This
kept the user both cool and smelling faintly of their favorite perfume. The
perfect solution to walking past foul smelling dumps.
The
handle was carved from African Black Wood, for ivory was cold and hard thus not
suitable to be held for long periods of time. The contrast between the pearly
white and warm greyish black was especially pleasing to the eyes. However, that
alone could not make the umbrella as precious as it was.
It
was under the rain that the umbrella shone.
As
water trickled down the pious painting, it was as if it carried away the
colors. The bright painting was slowly eroded into darkness as water-sensitive
paints exhibited their properties and turned into dark, dull hues. The once
merry landscape shifted into storminess as streaks of lightning ran down the
sides of the silk together with the rain. There were no painted drops, for they
were real and constantly changing. The night sky that loomed over the user’s
head had an everchanging splatter of rain.
And
the creation of this magnificent artifact laid at one man’s feet. Or rather,
foot. For Antonidas Ord Marcell was a cripple who had sworn that if he would
not have working feet then he would have the best hands in the world. The
Umbrella was his single, best work, and it had taken him half his life to
gather the materials for it, as well as create the special inks which changed
into the colors he needed for his painting. And indeed, both landscapes were
originals of Antonidas himself, painted first on separate canvases with oil
paints and then carefully interposed and transferred onto silk through inks and
dyes. The self-proclaimed art director had labored for nearly three years,
simply painting and repainting silks as he learned how to handle the material.
He made quite a name selling those failed silk paintings, but insisted that
they could not be counted amongst his works. Only The Umbrella, he said, could
qualify.
But
tragedy befell the now world renown artist, for some rash, uncouth, barbarian
of a thief had attempted to steal it, only to tear the silk in twain in his
failed escape. The pain Antonidas felt was nearly too much, and before he pass
away from fury, reports stated that he was grabbing onto the thief’s collar and
whispering, “I will end you for this.”
And end!
I would cry if such an umbrella actually got destroyed! Did some quick research on the names of umbrella parts and then some expensive wood and silk. African Black Wood is not the most expensive wood in the world, but I liked the image of black and white on an umbrella. I hope you guys enjoyed the description of the Umbrella!
*Kicked an iron plate is a chinese idiom 踢到铁板 ti dao tie ban. The meaning usually used as somebody bullying another who reveals himself to be stronger than the bully. Basically, you get your ass kicked and it's your own fault!
